Dr. Etta Egbe:
Thank you for following through
with resolutions from last Sunday's Akwaya Relief Fund
teleconference by Manyuans in the Diaspora.
Information dissemination is surely crucial in relief efforts like the one
currently staring us in the face. Thanks again for the good
job.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear brothers and
sisters of Manyu:
Most of you must
have heard about the unfortunate warring story of some communities in the
northern part of Akwaya subdivision of our beloved
Manyu Division. These are our brothers and sisters
caught up in something they did not wish for. We are receiving stories of men,
women and children being either maimed or killed for no crime they committed,
other than they being born into a particular community
or ethnic group.
Many have been
displaced, including pregnant women and the very young, the aged and
feeble. It is a very pitiable/terrible situation that we have in our hands as
this mail comes out to you. It would be sinful for us to be indifferent to the
sufferings of our own blood brothers and sisters. What they need at this time
includes food, medications, and clothes/shelter. I know we can make a difference
in the lives of these unfortunate victims of tribal carnage. Our prompt
donations/contributions to this effort will surely make a big difference. We are
even fortunate that the catholic archdiocese in Mamfe
is ready and willing to coordinate this relieve effort.
All they need is money. Think of this: if on average we can
,at a sitting, spend about twenty bucks on lunch, dinner/
wine, etc, will it be too much for us to doll out a few bucks to save a life or
two? I can hear our collective conscience shout a deafening "
NO".
We should therefore
react positively (and fast) to the plight of these affected peoples and give
them some hope. These are our own brothers and sisters, with same DNA and blood
running through their veins like ours. The good Lord will surely reward us
abundantly.
As
agreed on by the conferees last sunday, this is full
information on the account that had been opened earlier with Bank of America,
Sugar Land-Houston, TX to facilitate the relief efforts. Kindly use the

Many people in
the affected regions are in desperate need of food and medications and your
quick response will be highly appreciated as this may save lives. Simply stop by
any bank of America counter and use the aforementioned account to make your
deposit {$25, $50, $100} and we will do the rest of the heavy lifting by
ensuring that those bags of rice, medications or clothes get to the right people
on time with the help of the Mamfe Diocese and
volunteers on standby in Mamfe to travel to Akwaya with whatever is made available.
